Design you can measure. Materials you can feel.

The Olea Alcove pairs the science of intentional space planning with the organic warmth of well-selected materials — olive, oak, stone, sage, and linen — so every room works as beautifully as it looks.

The register

Five materials, chosen on purpose.

Every Olea Alcove palette begins with the same honest register. Each material is selected for how it behaves — in light, underhand, and over decades.

Olive

Grounding green; steadies a room in low light.

Oak

Straight grain, quiet warmth; wears in, not out.

Stone

Honed, never polished; cool weight underfoot.

Sage

The soft mediator between green and grey.

Linen

Light-diffusing weave; texture you can read.

The approach

Half laboratory, half grove.

Good rooms are engineered before they are decorated. We resolve the plan first — then let the materials do the talking.

The science

Intentional space planning

  • Circulation mapping — clear paths, no pinch points, furniture scaled to the room
  • Light studies — how daylight moves through the space, hour by hour
  • Sightline design — what you see from the doorway, the sofa, the sink
  • Function zoning — every square foot assigned a job before a finish
The nature

Organic material selection

  • Honest surfaces — solid oak, honed stone, woven linen; nothing pretending
  • A living palette — olive and sage tones that shift gently with the light
  • Texture layering — rough against smooth, matte against soft
  • Aging gracefully — materials chosen to look better in ten years
Services

Three ways to work together.

Full scope

Full-Service Interior Design

Concept to installation for whole homes and renovations. We manage the plan, the palette, the procurement, and the reveal — you come home to a finished room.

The blueprint

Space Planning & Layout

A measured, drawing-led service for rooms that don't work yet. Furniture plans, circulation studies, and lighting layouts you can build from — with any contractor.

The palette

Material & Finish Curation

A tailored register of finishes, fabrics, and fixtures for your project: sampled, tested in your light, and specified down to the sheen level.

Process

From survey to styling.

I — Survey

Listen & measure

We walk the space with you, document how you actually live in it, and take the measurements everything else depends on.

II — Plan

Resolve the layout

Scaled drawings test circulation, sightlines, and light before a single purchase. The room has to work on paper first.

III — Palette

Select the materials

Olive, oak, stone, sage, linen — sampled in your rooms, in your light, and refined until the register feels inevitable.

IV — Install

Deliver & style

We coordinate trades and deliveries, place every piece, and style the finished space down to the last stem.

The studio

Rooted in Knoxville.

The Olea Alcove is a Knoxville, Tennessee interior design studio led by Clare. The name is the practice in miniature: olea, the olive — organic, enduring, quietly beautiful — set within an alcove, a space shaped deliberately around it.

We believe calm interiors aren't an accident of taste. They're the result of rigorous planning meeting materials that were always going to belong together. That's the work, and we'd love to do it for your home.
